13-14 January Closed List of Proportionality, Commission training parties on candidate selection
Kathmandu. For the election to be held on February 21, the closed list of candidates will have to be submitted on January 13 and 14. According to the Commission, the parties should submit the closed list based on the new percentage. According to Commission Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the Election Commission has made a schedule for the political parties participating in the proportional election system. According to the same schedule, the date of submission of closed list is fixed.
Similarly, onthe proportional side, registered political parties will be given training on candidate selection from today, January 8. Spokesperson Bhattarai informed that the parties are often confused about what percentage of castes or communities should be in recommending candidates under the proportional election system, so they are going to hold 2 days of training today, Tuesday and tomorrow, Wednesday.
According to him, training will be given on the legal 'formula' to be followed when submitting the closed list of candidates and finally announcing the election. Leaders of new and old, small and big parties will participate in the training. Spokesperson Bhattarai said that representatives of all 193 parties who applied for proportional representation, which is going to provide orientation to the parties regarding the possible changes towards the inclusive group of proportional representation according to the census, will participate.
