In whose hands will the command of Nepal Police, which handles more than 79,000 manpower? Karki, KC, Adhikari or Shah's?

This kartik, the current Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP) Chandrakuber Khapung is preparing to retire. Now intense competition has started for this post among four Additional Inspector Generals (AIGs) Dan Bahadur Karki, Manoj KC, Rajan Adhikari and Siddhi Vikram Shah.

All these four are considered strong officers in their field. Karki is known as an officer with bold decision making and leadership ability. Having handled challenging responsibilities in Kathmandu and Kaski, his professional image is strong.

Casey is a soft-spoken but results-driven police officer. He gained a lot of publicity by arresting former Home Minister Balkrishna Khan in the Bhutanese refugee case. Now he is the head of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB).

Rajan Adhikari is a policeman with a disciplined, studious and professional image. She has made a historic contribution to the organization by successfully completing the first Women's Police Conference.

Shah is known as 'Fearless Officer'. While in the Special Bureau, he made the operation to bring Durga Prasai from India to Nepal a success.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki's Council of Ministers will take the final decision on the recommendation of Home Minister Omprakash Aryal. At a time when party political interference is minimal, the IGP appointment process is expected to be based on merit and ability for the first time.
