The 'Gen-G' operation of the disgraced leader in power!

Main News Image

Kathmandu. Leaders who have been rooted in Nepali politics for decades—Sher Bahadur Deuba, KP Sharma Oli, Madhav Kumar Nepal and Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'—are still at the center of politics. Even though the country practiced democratic republic, federalism and inclusive politics during the leadership of these leaders, today they have started to be sharply criticized. The new generation, especially "Gen Z" or the now conscious young generation, are protesting demanding the resignation of those leaders. According to them, these leaders have failed to develop a strong democracy in Nepal, have not been able to govern according to the wishes of the people, and are preserving the old structures through corruption, selfishness and greed for power.

The Genji Movement is a spontaneous and digital-age movement in which young people have voiced their voices for change through social media, street demonstrations and organizational pressure. The main issue of this movement is that the leadership of the old leaders has failed and the new generation has been blocked. The main demands raised in this movement include giving opportunities to the new generation in political leadership, voluntary resignation of old leaders, strict action against corruption, investigation of human rights violations and ensuring youth participation in policy making.

But this movement is not easy. In some places, there have been allegations of repression of protesters, excessive use of force by security forces and violation of fundamental rights of youth. In some cases, shots were fired, arrests were made and even suicides were reported due to mental stress. On this basis, serious accusations like genocide have also been made against the leaders.

The leadership of old leaders has also been widely criticized. Sher Bahadur Deuba could not institutionalize internal democracy in the party after leading for five terms. He is accused of not giving opportunities to the youth, weak administrative leadership and indulging in corruption.
