Chief Minister of Madhesh taking vote of confidence after Chhath
Kathmandu. Madhesh Chief Minister Jitendra Prasad Sonar Sonal has prepared to take the vote of confidence after Chhath. He was appointed Chief Minister on October 29. There is a constitutional provision that a vote of confidence must be taken within 30 days of the appointment. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sonal informed that the vote of confidence will be taken after Chhath due to the festive season.
He became the Chief Minister with the support of Janata Samajwadi Party JSP Nepal, Janmaat Party, CPN Maoist Center, Democratic Samajwadi Party Nepal, CPN Unified Socialist Party. The number of MPs of these five political parties in the provincial assembly is 57. JSP Nepal has 19 MPs, Janmaat Party 13, Maoist Center 9, LOSPA 9 and CPN United Socialist Party 7 MPs. 54 MPs are enough to form the government in the 107-member provincial assembly.
However, outgoing chief minister Satish Kumar Singh and former minister Tribhuwan Shah, who are members of the state assembly from the Janmaat Party, have already joined the Jana Swaraj Party, which was formed after the Janmaat split. However, the decision of the Election Commission regarding the division of Janmaat Party has been put on hold by the Supreme Court. Now, until the division gets the authority from the court, even if it is registered with the Janamat Party, the whip of the parliamentary party of the Janmat Party will be applied.
