Kathmandu. The government has made it clear that there will be no immediate change to the existing two-day public holiday in a week. Responding on behalf of the government to the questions raised by the parliamentarians in the National Assembly meeting on Thursday, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sobita Gautam said that the two-day holiday was implemented based on international practice and the country's needs.
In the meeting, MP Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma claimed that the two-day holiday had a negative impact on education, business and government services and demanded to maintain the old one-day holiday system.
