In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is said, "Nepal calls upon all concerned parties to exercise maximum restraint and refrain from escalating tensions." Emphasizes that the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of states mentioned in the Charter of the United Nations should be fully respected.
Mentioning that it is closely monitoring the Venezuela case, the ministry further said, "Nepal insists that the dispute should be resolved peacefully through dialogue, diplomacy and mutual understanding." A case has been filed against the Maduro couple in a New York court on charges of smuggling drugs and weapons to the United States. They were detained there and were produced in the court last Monday.
