Russia declares 'no deadline' for ending Ukraine war
Kathmandu. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told Russian state media on Thursday that Moscow is in no hurry to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine. Negotiators from both countries arrived in Geneva on Thursday as part of the negotiation process initiated by US President Donald Trump to end the ongoing conflict.
Several rounds of US-mediated talks between representatives of the warring nations have failed to reach an agreement, with Moscow insisting on radical regional and political demands that Kiev rejects as capitulation.
Top Russian officials on Thursday again denied that a deal was close. Have you heard anything from us about the deadline? We do not have a deadline, we have procedural tasks and work is underway to complete them, national news agencies quoted Lavrov as saying. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also said it was too early to predict the stage of the peace process.
