Nighttime Vehicle Movement Prohibited on the Khurkot-Bhakundebesi Section of the BP Highway
Kathmandu — The District Administration Office, Kavrepalanchok, has imposed a complete ban on vehicular movement on the Khurkot-Bhakundebesi section of the BP Highway from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. This decision has been made in view of public safety, as the road section, which was damaged by flooding in the Roshi Khola in Ashoj 2081, is currently under construction and being upgraded, and is also prone to disruption even during normal rainfall.
Following coordination between the Chief District Officers of Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli and a meeting of the District Security Committee, it has been decided to prohibit nighttime travel effective from today until further notice.
According to the administration, this measure has been taken to reduce risk because, due to the recent flood in the Roshi Khola at Roshi Rural Municipality-7 on Baisakh 22, vehicles and passengers were left stranded midway, making nighttime rescue extremely difficult and creating a life-threatening situation.
