With Kathmandu's win, it climbed to third place in the table

Kathmandu. Kathmandu Gorkhaz registered their third win in Nepal Premier League 9NPL0 by defeating Chitwan Rhinos by 53 runs in the Bagmati derby held on Thursday. After five games, Kathmandu has climbed to the third place in the table by adding 6 points. Even though Biratnagar has the same number of points, the run rate is behind Kathmandu.

Chasing the target of 143 runs given by Kathmandu, Chitwan was bowled out for 89 runs in 17.1 overs. Chitwan's Dev Khanal and Ravi Bopara scored 21 runs each while Sohail Tanvir added 18 runs. Other players could not reach double figures. Rashid Khan of Kathmandu took 3 wickets with 3 runs in 1.2 overs. Captain Karan KC, Milind Kumar and Shahab Alam took two wickets each.

Earlier, Kathmandu, who lost the toss and batted first at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, were all out for 142 runs in 19.4 overs.

John Simpson of Kathmandu played an excellent innings of 60 runs off 29 balls. Milind Kumar scored 38 runs off 43 balls. Both shared an important partnership of 98 runs for the third wicket. But after Simpson was dismissed in the 17th over, Kathmandu lost 7 wickets after adding 33 more runs from 109/3 in 15 overs. Sohail Tanvir of Chitwan took 4 wickets with 25 runs in 4 overs. Ranjith Kumar and Kamal Singh Airey took two wickets each and Ravi Bopara took one wicket.
