Nepal's victory over India in two Samba goals
Kathmandu. Nepal has defeated India in the second match of Tri Nations International Women's Football. In the match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong, Nepal defeated India 2-1 with the help of captain Savitra Bhandari Samba's two goals. The title of the tournament was already secured by Iran.
Iran had earlier defeated India 2-0 and Nepal 3-0 to clinch the top spot. Entering the field for a consolation victory, Nepal kept India under pressure by presenting an aggressive game from the start. In the second minute of the game, Samba scored a long cross from the defense line and gave Nepal the lead. In the second half as well, Samba performed decisively and added a goal through a free kick in the 63rd minute, which the Indian goalkeeper could not stop.
In the 81st minute, India's Karisma Sirvokar bounced the ball from Nirmala Devi's free kick and returned the goal. However, the goal was not enough for a tie and Nepal registered a 2-1 victory.
Once again Savitra was the hero in the win against India. She has scored 10 goals against India so far. Overall, Savitra has scored 68 goals for Nepal. In the first match, Nepal lost to Iran 3-0. Before that, India lost to Iran by 290 runs. The Nepali team reached Shillong with the goal of winning the title, but the chances ended after they lost in the first game.
