Winter holidays in local schools to protect children from cold waves

Mahottari After the cold wave that started from the first week of January affected the life of Mahottari, all the local levels of the district have decided to give school holidays. Last time, Bardibas, Jaleshwar, Matihani, Loharpatti and Manrasishawa municipalities issued a notice on Sunday evening and gave a holiday with effect from today.
In view of adverse weather conditions, the local authorities have announced a holiday of one day to five days. Bardibas Municipality has given a holiday for one day today, 9 Monday, while Tuesday is the public holiday of Utmu Lhosaru. Some other municipalities including Matihani have closed schools till Friday. Municipalities have stated that this holiday will be matched with the next holiday.
According to Sanjeev Kumar Sah, head of Bhangaha municipality, this decision was taken keeping in mind the health safety of children who stopped coming to school due to cold. For the past one week, heavy rains and cold winds have increased throughout the district. Due to the cold weather, not only the schools but also the hustle and bustle of the market and farming activities have been badly affected.
