Kathmandu. In memory of the marriage of Sita and Ram on the day of Marg Top Shukla Panchami in the Treta Yuga, the marriage panchami festival is being celebrated today by worshiping Ram Sita all over the country.

The marriage festival of Lord Sita and Rama is being held today in Janakpurdham, the ancient capital of Mithila. As described by Goswami Tulsidas in the Ramayana, the people of Mithila celebrate this festival as a special festival, remembering the day of Janakandani Sita's wedding.

During the Treta Yuga, King Janaka of Mithila cut the Shiva bow for his daughter Sita's swayamvara into three pieces by Rama, the eldest son of Dasharatha, king of Ayodhya. The marriage of Rama and Sita was consummated on the day of Margashirsha Shukla Panchami after breaking the bow of Shiva. During the celebration of the festival, according to the culture of Mithila, Matkor, Tilakotsava, Swayamvar and marriage rituals are performed. According to the legend, the idol of Lord Rama is carried from the Ram temple along with the tableau and the tableau to the theater on a specially made dola throne.
