Devotees who have been sitting in the evening of Trayodashi offering unbroken lamps in the name of their departed ancestors scatter Shatabij on the morning of Chaturdashi.
On this occasion, devotees throng Shiva temples across the country, including the Pashupatinath temple. Lakhs of devotees come and stay awake all night to offer Deepaan in the name of their departed ancestors on Tuesday, the night before Balachaturdashi. The devotees, who spent the whole night on Tuesday with lamps, celebrate the Shatbeez Chhari Balachaturdashi festival on Wednesday morning in memory of their ancestors.
