``Corner Point'' fined 200,000 for using substandard food ingredients

Kathmandu. The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has fined Corner Point Restaurant & Bar Pvt. Ltd. located at 22, New Road, Kathmandu Metropolitan City for not maintaining quality.

During the on-site monitoring conducted by the department, it was found that the restaurant was seriously negligent in terms of health. According to Senior Food Research Officer Bal Kumari Sharma, during the monitoring, although the cleanliness of the restaurant was found to be normal, it was found that expired fruit syrup was being used.

Similarly, the chain was found in the oil used to make pizza and the storage management of food items kept in the refrigerator was very unorganized, which raised questions about the hygiene of the restaurant. A test conducted by the monitoring team found the TPM of the oil to be 22.0, which is considered substandard.
