Celebrating 'World Radiography Day' and 'International Radiology Day'
Kathmandu. Today, 'World Radiography Day' and 'International Radiology Day' are being celebrated across the country. World Radiography Day is celebrated on November 8 every year with the aim of spreading awareness about radiography and radiation therapy around the world. This year, the 130th World Radiography and International Radiology Day is going to be celebrated around the world with the theme of 'Empowering Healthcare through Imaging Excellence'.
German scientist Wilhelm Roentgen invented radiography on November 8, 1895. The day is celebrated every year around the world to honor the discovery of X-ray radiation by the scientist Roentgen. Doctors say that X-ray detects the bones inside the human body as well as whether there are any foreign substances, while ultrasound, CT scan, MRI detects the problems in the organs inside the body.
Senior Radiologist Dr. Sharma Paudel says that along with the development of technology, radiology is developing as a method of diagnosing and treating diseases. He says that radiology has an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Dr. Paudel says that he has been treating patients through "interventional radiology" which treats non-invasively and "diagnostic radiology" which diagnoses the disease.
According to Dr. Poudel, it is called radiology because radiation is a type that started with X-rays. He says that there has been a lot of progress in the field of radiology in recent times and many techniques that are done without the use of radiation are also included in radiology. In radiology, examinations using radiation include x-ray, city scan, fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine, mammography, and examinations without the use of radiation include ultrasound, i.e., video X-ray, MRI, etc.
