Kathmandu. Complaints were made to the Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection that they monitored the market only during the festive season and remained silent during other times. However, the organizers have intensified the department's recent activities and market monitoring. The department had approved eight different industries and firms in Kathmandu only on Friday. Crystal Store Tarakeshwar Goldhunga has been fined 250,000. In the course of monitoring, the department has taken action in accordance with Section 39 of 1 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 for offenses under Section 16 and Section 38 of the same Act.
It states that the actual quality, quantity, price scale, pattern or sale or provision of goods and services is considered to be an unfair commercial and business activity.
In section 39 of the Act, if the producer, transporter, storer, importer, seller or service provider of the goods is found to have committed any of the following offenses from the evidence immediately obtained during the market inspection, inspection, investigation or search, the inspection officer can fine him.
According to the law, if found to be doing unfair business activities, the inspection officer can impose a maximum fine of two lakhs to three lakhs.
