Preparations for Bala Chaturdashi Mela at Pashupatinath are in final stage
Kathmandu. Pashupatinath fair, which is celebrated every year on the day of Margashirshakrishna Trayodashi, is celebrated in Pashupati region to pray for the good fortune of the departed ancestors. Devotees flock to Pashupati area from early morning to light lamps in the name of Pitru. Devotees who gather from the morning of Trayodashi ritually light lamps in the name of Pitru in the evening. On the day of Margashirsha Krishna Chaturdashi, in the morning, Shatbees are scattered to pray for the good fortune of the deceased father. Devotees who have been sitting in the evening of Trayodashi offering unbroken lamps in the name of their departed ancestors scatter Shatabij on the morning of Chaturdashi.
On this occasion, devotees throng Shiva temples across the country, including the Pashupatinath temple. Lakhs of devotees come and stay awake all night to offer Deepaan in the name of their departed ancestors on Tuesday, the night before Balachaturdashi. The devotees, who spent the whole night on Tuesday with lamps, celebrate the Shatbeez Chhari Balachaturdashi festival on Wednesday morning in memory of their ancestors.
Every year devotees from different parts of the country come to Pashupati to celebrate the Bala Chaturdashi festival on Margashirsha Krishna Chaturdashi. Devotees who have come in this way are crowded in the Pashupati area from Tuesday morning. Devotees from different parts of the country used to crowd Pashupati from early morning to block the place to light the lamp. The Pashupati Area Development Fund has said that tents and other arrangements have been made as it is winter season. .
