New rules in NEPSE from Monday, share prices fell by 15 percent in one day

Main News Image

Kathmandu. Now the share price can decrease up to 15 percent in one day. NEPSE is about to implement this new regulation after the approval of the 'Securities Business Operation Fourth Amendment Regulation, 2082' from the Nepal Securities Board.

According to the new rules that will be implemented from Monday, the share price of the listed companies may decrease by up to 15 percent in one day. Previously, this limit was only 10 percent. According to NEPSE, this limit has been increased to make the market more dynamic and to make the pricing process realistic.

According to the new policy, the price limit of the pre-open session before the opening of the market has also been changed. This limit, which was previously 2 percent, has been increased to 5 percent. It is expected to control the abnormal fluctuations that occur as soon as the market opens.

Similarly, circuit breaker system based on NEPSE index has also been simplified. Now there will be only two level circuit breakers instead of three levels. If the market index decreases by 5 percent within two hours of the start of trading, the trading will be stopped for 15 minutes. If the index decreases by 8 percent, all transactions of that day will be closed. Earlier, there was a complex circuit system with three levels of 4,5 and 6 percent. The new system aims to reduce market barriers and facilitate transactions.
