Muglin -Malekhu road upgradation work started
Kathmandu. The work of upgrading the Muglin-Malekhu road, which was only a normal work due to the rainy season, has started gaining intensity. After June, the road upgrading work slowed down. After the rain stopped and the festival was over, the work started to be intensified. According to Vijay Darai, engineer of the western section of the Muglin-Malekhu road under the Nagdhunga-Muglin road project, the work has been accelerated. The work on the access road to the bridge has been started. The access roads of four bridges are going to be constructed. Barrier work has been started on the bridge and other parts and drain work has also been started.
According to him, preparations have been made to start the black paper work in two to three days. Out of 38.86 kilometers of that section, eight kilometers of roads have been paved. Final preparations have been made for additional five kilometers of road blacking. According to Darai, the place where the final preparations have been made is about to be blacked out. Along with this, preparation work will be done for the black paper in other places. Among the other two bridges on that road section, one foundation of Charoodi Khol bridge has been laid. On the other hand, both the foundations of the Hoogdi river bridge have been prepared.
According to Darai, 35 percent of road upgrading has been completed so far. In this section, 2.2 km will be six-lane, which will be in Malekhu, Benighat and Muglin sections. The 7.2 km road will have four lanes. Stating that the four lanes will be in the areas of Danda, Kurintar, Fisling, Chumling, Mazhimtar, Charaudi and Vishaltar, Darai said that a three-lane 'climbing' route will be made in the uphill and downhill sections. According to him, the 'climbing' route will be 2.3 km and the rest of the road will be two lanes.
This road was contracted to be completed in three years on 15 January 2079. Under the Prithvi highway, Muglin-Nagdhunga section has been divided into three phases and bids have been invited. This falls under the third phase. It will expire on the 15th of January. Darai said that the process for extending the deadline has gone ahead. He said that the construction company will get an extension of a few months due to design modification etc.
