Dhaka. A Hindu leader has been barred from contesting elections in Bangladesh. Elections are scheduled to be held in Bangladesh on February 12. Govind Chandra Pramanik had filed his candidature for the parliamentary elections from Gopalganj (3) constituency, but the election officer rejected his candidature on Saturday.

Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was MP from Gopalganj 3. More than 50 percent of voters here are Hindus. Govinda wanted to contest the elections independently.
