The Prime Minister's Secretariat said: 'The Prime Minister is not involved in arresting journalists'
Kathmandu. Prime Minister Walendra Shah's Secretariat has clarified that the Prime Minister's Office and the Prime Minister's Secretariat have no involvement in the incident of arresting the journalist. Deepa Dahal, the Prime Minister's press and research expert, has said that the Prime Minister did not even have prior information about the incident of plainclothes policemen entering the newsroom and arresting journalists through Facebook on Friday evening.
Dahal said, "Honorable Prime Minister, his secretariat and the Prime Minister's office have no involvement in the incident of the arrest of the journalist and it is made clear that they have not even received prior information about it."
As soon as the prime minister got the information about the incident, the Secretariat has instructed the relevant agencies to immediately release the detained journalists and not to enter the newsroom of the media and arrest them. She said, "As soon as the honorable Prime Minister came to know about the said incident, he has given clear instructions to the relevant agencies to immediately release the detained journalists and not to enter the newsroom and arrest them in any way."
