Central members' request to Oli: Be a parent, not a leader

Kathmandu. In the central committee meeting of the CPN-UML, a debate has started about the leadership of Chairman KP Sharma Oli. The political crisis that arose after the Genji movement has led to a demand for new leadership within the party. The second legislative convention of UML, which was held on August 22, cleared the way for Oli to become the president again by removing the age limit and term limit of the president. But in the situation after the Genji movement, that path has taken a different turn within the UML.

Most of the members who expressed their views in the central committee meeting that started on Wednesday said that Oli should remain in the leadership only until November. According to most of the central members, a new leadership should come after the convention to be held in Pokhara in the last week of November. Sources say that out of 196 central members who spoke till Thursday, 10 central members, including Surendra Manandhar, spoke using the word resignation.

The secretariat meeting of CPN-UML has already proposed to hold the 11th Congress in Pokhara in the last week of November. According to Rajendra Gautam, Head of Party Propaganda Department, the discussion on the political report presented by Oli in the Central Committee is continuing. On the second day, 146 central members gave their views in the meeting with a total of 342 central members.

Likewise, pressure has also increased not to stop the membership of former president Vidya Bhandari. Some central members have also raised the issue of maintaining the party membership of the former vice-president Bidya Devi Bhandari and returning to the work of the party in a dignified manner.

Also, Oli is requested by most of the central members to understand the pace of the times as there is no way out of the continuity of the leadership. Central members have also asked Oli to sit in a parental role from the convention to be held in Pokhara. At the Central Committee meeting, the leaders are now speaking openly. One person is given 3 minutes to speak.
