Surlahi. Saroj Kumar Singh Kushwaha, Member of Parliament of Madhesh Province of Nepal, Janata Samajwadi Party JSP, has been arrested again. The commission arrested him on Thursday evening near Ratnarajya School, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10, on the charge of misappropriation of MP Development Fund.
It is said that the commission issued an arrest warrant from the special court in Kathmandu and took Singh into custody. He has been accused of misappropriating funds from the development fund scheme by forming a fake consumer committee. The Commission has registered a corruption case against him in a special court today.
The Commission has filed a case against 16 people including him. On 29th June, Singh was arrested from Anamnagar and released in Tarekh after taking a statement. However, the commission claims that in the latest investigation, evidence has been found that he collected funds in the name of consumer committees and transferred about 37 percent commission from that amount to his own and his wife's bank accounts.
It has been found that he embezzled money through his private secretary Vinod Kumar Lal Kayastha. The commission arrested Kayastha on October 12. Now the commission has prepared to register a corruption case against the other officials of the consumer committee involved in the case along with both of them. Singh, who was elected from Mahottari Region No-4 B, is also the former Minister of State for Home Affairs.
