Clear weather, clear weather until another system arrives, cold weather to remain

Kathmandu. The western low pressure system, which has been active since Tuesday evening and brought rain to many parts of the country, has moved out. Varun Paudel, senior meteorologist of the Department of Water and Meteorology, said that since the system has exited and the influence of the western wind is still there, the weather will open from today, although there will be a general effect in the highlands and Himalayan areas. 

Today, there will be fog in many parts of the Terai region, there will be partial clouds in the highlands and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki regions and the weather will be mainly clear in the rest of the region, the department said. It is said that there may be light snowfall at one or two places in the high hills and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

He said that the cold may last for a few days and informed that the weather will open until another system arrives. The system brought rain to many parts of the country including Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday. In particular, this system did not touch Madhes and Koshi provinces more than usual. The system brought 2.2 mm of rain in Kathmandu, 4.8 in Lalitpur and 4.8 mm in Bhaktapur. Surkhet has received the highest rainfall of 43 mm. 

In Rukum, 38 mm of rain has been received in Sheragaon and 33 mm in Jajarkot, 35.6 in Baitadi, 33.2 in Dadeldhura, 30.2 in Bajur, 32.4 in Manang and 31 mm in Dolpa.
