Nationwide protest of press union ban on government advertising
Kathmandu. The Nepal Press Union has announced that it will conduct a nationwide interaction program against the government's decision to ban publication and broadcast of government advertisements in private media.
Through a circular issued by the general secretary of the union, Dilip Paudel, all provinces, district branches and foundation branches of the Nepal Press Union have been instructed to hold an interaction program on the impact of banning government advertisements on private media and send a report to the center within seven days.
According to the instructions issued recently by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, all types of government advertisements, notices and information related to public procurement must be published and broadcast only through government-owned media.
