World Environment Day is being celebrated today with various programs

Kathmandu. World Environment Day 2026 is being celebrated today with various programs across the country. It is going to be celebrated on a week-long basis with the main slogan 'The basis of a prosperous future: climate and nature-friendly development'. On the occasion of the day, the environment department is organizing a special program in Lalitpur. 

Agriculture, Forestry and Environment Minister Geeta Chaudhary is scheduled to participate in the main ceremony of the World Environment Day as the chief guest. The Environment Department said that various government agencies, development partners, environmentalists and stakeholders will be present at the event.

Director General of the Department Gyanraj Subedi informed that the World Environment Day is going to be specially celebrated to increase public awareness on the issues of environment protection, climate change challenges and promotion of nature-friendly development. On the occasion of the World Environment Day, various public awareness and environmental protection programs will be conducted across the country, the department said.
