From today, children across the country are being given vitamin A and leprosy medicine
Kathmandu. The government is giving Vitamin A to children across the country today and Monday. Lila Vikram Thapa, Head of the Nutrition Branch of the Health Services Department, informed that under the National Vitamin A Program, the Ministry of Health and Population has started giving two days of vitamin A along with leprosy medicine.
According to him, vitamin 'A' capsules will be given to about 2.2 million children aged six months to 59 months under the programme. Similarly, about 2 million children between one year and under five years of age have been given the drug "Albendazole" for ringworm. For that, the local level has established vaccination centers at the appropriate places. About 52,000 women health volunteers and 15,000 health workers have been mobilized in the program.
