With Messi's historic record, Argentina in the knockout stages of the World Cup

Kathmandu. With the help of captain Lionel Messi's excellent rhythm and historic record, the former winner Argentina has entered the knockout stage of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026. According to Nepali time, in the exciting match of Group 'J' held today, Argentina secured its place in the last 16 by defeating the European rival Austria with a 2(0) goal difference.

Argentina was in control of the game from the beginning in the match which was held at the stadium in Dallas, USA. In the 38th minute of the game, captain Lionel Messi scored an attractive goal to give Argentina an early lead. After that, there were no more goals in the first half. In the second half of the game, Austria made some attempts to equalize, but the Argentinian defense failed to do so. The victory of Argentina was ensured after Messi scored his second personal goal in the extra time of the second half of the game, i.e. injury time.
