We have moved against the conspiracy to take the country towards regression: General Secretary Pokharel

Kathmandu. CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has said that even though UML has left the government, it has remained deeply in the hearts of the Nepali people. Addressing the 11th National Congress of UML which started in Bhaktapur on Saturday, he said that after the incident of 23rd and 24th of August, CPN-UML and its leadership were attacked in a well-planned manner and said that the attack did not weaken UML.

He said, 'After the incident of 23rd and 24th of August, some people thought that the future of CPN-UML was over after the planned attack against CPN-UML and its leadership in this country. We have left the government, but we have remained deeply in the hearts of the Nepali people. Today's meeting also confirmed that UML has not weakened.

Similarly, he also said that UML has moved ahead with the convention against the conspiracy to take the country towards regression and to advance the country in the direction of democracy. He said, "NCP UML has resolved to move forward against the conspiracy to take the country towards regression and we have moved the convention forward with the slogan that we will move the country forward in the direction of democracy."

He also said that the representative assembly elected by the Nepali people has been dissolved and the party convention was held at a time when efforts are being made to push the country backward or towards regression in an atmosphere of uncertainty, fear and terror.
