UML gets new leadership today, results within hours
Kathmandu. CPN-UML is getting a new leadership through the convention. The party's leadership selection process has reached its final stage with the start of the convention voting which started on November 27th. Voting started from 9 am on Wednesday and the voting has now reached its final stage. According to Election Commission Secretary Kunsang Lama, voting can be done in less than an hour.
It took an average of 40 minutes and a maximum of two hours to cast a vote. Voting for 19 office bearers and 301 member central committee is going on in the ongoing convention.
There are 2,263 voters and 622 candidates. Since voting started on Wednesday, around 100 people are voting every hour, so it is seen that it will take about 22 hours to vote for 2,263 representatives.
There is competition between the current president KP Sharma Oli and senior vice president Ishwar Pokharel for the post of president. Similarly, Shankar Pokharel from Oli's side and Surendra Pandey from Ishwar Pokharel's side have become candidates for the post of general secretary.
