Main News Image

Kathmandu. Ekadashi of Jyeshtha Shukla Paksha is called Nirjala Ekadashi. Lord Narayan is worshiped on Ekadashi, the beloved date of Shri Hari. On this day, there is a law to bathe in the Ganges and other holy rivers and to fast by giving up water. It has been described in the scriptures that the person who donates a glass full of water or syrup while fasting today will be blessed by Shri Hari.

Today, there is a tradition of keeping a bunch of Tulsi in the holy place and planting it in the Tulsi Math on the day of Harishayani Ekadashi and marrying Lord Vishnu on the day of Haribodhini Ekadashi. Even for those who are unable to fast on other Ekadashi, fasting on this day will bring auspicious results.
