Kathmandu. On the occasion of Vivah Panchami festival, the Madhes state government has given a public holiday across the state today. In memory of the marriage of Sita and Rama on the day of Marg Top Shukla Panchami in the Treta Yuga, the marriage Panchami festival is being celebrated today by worshiping Rama and Sita.
Radheshankar Prasad Pal, branch officer of the Ministry of Home, Communications and Law of Madhes Province, issued a notice on Monday and informed that today is a public holiday in Madhes. Janakpur is the ancient capital of Mithila. Every year, the marriage festival of Lord Sita and Rama is held here on Marg Shukla Panchami.
