The graph of dengue infection decreased, but the risk did not decrease
Kanchanpur. The risk of dengue infection in Far Western Province is still seen as challenging. According to the statistics of the Directorate of Health Dipayal, the number of people infected with dengue in the last three financial years is 7,683. According to Hemraj Joshi, an insect-borne disease officer of the Directorate of Health, in the financial year 2080-81, dengue infection was confirmed in 3,349 people in Far West. He said that although there was a general decrease in this number in the year 2081 and 2082, the risk remained. In that year, 3 thousand 316 people were infected.
So far in the current financial year, 1,18 people have been affected by dengue in the province. Officer Joshi said, "Even though the graph of dengue has decreased slightly compared to the previous year, the risk of infection has not stopped. Especially in Terai district, its effect is more."
According to the directorate, Kailali and Kanchanpur are the districts most affected by dengue. Recently, due to climate change and increasing urbanization, dengue patients have started to be found even in hilly districts, Officer Joshi said. According to him, the provincial government and the local level have been continuing the 'find and destroy larvae' campaign to control dengue.
