A draft is being prepared to give legal, social and economic rights to leprosy affected people

Main News Image

Kathmandu. In Nepal, the process of comprehensive legal reform has been carried forward to end the legal and social discrimination against leprosy affected people for years. In a situation where the behavior and laws in Nepali society towards people affected by leprosy, who can be fully cured in a short time if they take medicine regularly, are not able to be victim-friendly, the legal reform is going to be done to end the discrimination against people affected by leprosy in Nepal.

By highlighting the existing legal errors in the leadership of the Nepalese legal society, a strong foundation has been prepared for the creation of an integrated law with the participation of the government at all three levels. Krishnaman Pradhan, the executive director of the society, informed that a draft has been made and discussed at the local level in order to identify, treat and rehabilitate the problems related to leprosy from the health point of view and improve the discriminatory laws in a timely manner.
