Kathmandu. Kulman Ghising, Minister of Energy, Water Resources, Physical Planning, Transport and Urban Development of the interim government, has said that the government is seriously proceeding with the issue of granting voting rights to Nepali citizens living abroad. Addressing the webinar organized by the Citizenship and Voting Rights Committee of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) on Sunday, Minister Ghising informed that the government is advancing the necessary legal and technical procedures.

According to Minister Ghisingh, the Ministry of Home Affairs is currently doing homework on two important issues - NRN citizenship and voting rights from foreign lands. He mentioned that discussions are ongoing with the Election Commission and said, "The government is working to issue an ordinance for the implementation of the voting rights of Nepali citizens living abroad. The matter of lack of time has come from the Election Commission, but it is our stand that Nepalis living abroad must be able to vote in any case.'

He also informed about the security aspects of Nepalis in Gulf countries for voting and the challenges related to cooperation with the government there. It is the Nepalis abroad who show patriotism. Therefore, I have submitted my opinion to the President for the implementation of this right," Minister Ghising said.

Regarding the continuation of Nepalese citizenship of the descendants raised by the British Gurkhas, Minister Ghising recalled that he had clearly supported the demand in London. "Continuity of the citizenship of the descendants is not a loss but an advantage for the country. Investment increases. The government should look at it seriously," he said.
