The country's public debt exceeded 28 trillion, added 1 trillion 32 billion in 6 months
Kathmandu. Nepal's public debt has exceeded 28 trillion. At the beginning of the current fiscal year 2082,83, the total public debt was 26 trillion 74 billion 4 billion rupees, by the end of March, it increased by 1 trillion 32 billion 34 billion rupees and reached 28 trillion 6 billion 39 billion rupees. Currently, the total government debt owed by the government is equal to 45.95 percent of the GDP.
According to the Public Debt Management Office, the share of foreign debt in the total public debt is 53 percent i.e. 14 trillion 87 billion 262.22 million rupees and the share of internal debt is 47 percent i.e. 13 trillion 19 billion 130 million rupees. Based on the gross domestic product, the ratio of internal debt is 21.60 and the ratio of external debt is 24.35 percent.
The government has set a target of raising public debt equal to 5 trillion 95 billion rupees for the current financial year. 2 trillion 14 billion 55 crore rupees have been received by the half-yearly review period, which is 36.02 percent of the annual target.
