Snow-rock avalanches due to floods, low coastal areas urged to be cautious
Kathmandu. The severe sudden flood in Rasuwa on Wednesday morning has caused great loss of property. After the powerful flood with water, Gegran and big stones flowed through the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems, the experts have asked to be cautious saying that the lower coastal areas may be more affected.
At around 9:00 am on Wednesday morning, the water level in the Bhotekoshi catchment area started to rise rapidly. The flood has caused great damage in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. Scientists from the International Integrated Mountain Development Center ISIMOD and partner organizations in Nepal and China are investigating the possibility that this flood may have been caused by an ice-rock avalanche in the high mountain region.
