Sheikh Hasina sentenced to death
Kathmandu. Bangladesh's International Criminal Tribunal (ICT) has found former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina guilty of serious crimes against humanity. A three-judge tribunal has sentenced Sheikh Hasina to death in this case. A three-judge tribunal headed by Justice Ghulam Murtaza delivered a 400-page verdict in six parts.
The tribunal headed by Justice Murtaza also has Justices Mohammad Shafiul Alam Mahmood and Mohammad Mohitul Haque Inam Chaudhary. The tribunal also ruled that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should be jailed till her death in one case.
The tribunal said it considered several reports from human rights organizations and other organizations. It also gave a detailed account of the atrocities. Sheikh Hasina committed crimes against humanity.
The tribunal verdict also mentions that a large number of protesters were killed. Sheikh Hasina ordered helicopter bombardment of peacefully protesting students. The tribunal also noted that Awami League workers had taken to the streets and carried out premeditated attacks with the full knowledge of the party leadership.
