Security of 31 airports and 70 prisons is entrusted to the army
Kathmandu. The Nepali Army has been entrusted with the security of 70 prisons, 31 airports and 13 other offices. Apart from prisons and airports, the army is deployed to protect Nepal Oil Corporation, Telecom towers and other government agencies.
Spokesperson of the Nepali Army Assistant Rajaram Basnet said that the Nepali Army has been mobilized in all constituencies as per the Integrated Election Security Plan. He said, the army is also deployed in the security of important structures including prisons and airports.
The army will conduct regular patrols in cooperation with the Armed Police and Nepal Police by establishing a base in every constituency. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the deployment of the army and armed police has been arranged so that the police cannot control the situation at any polling station so that if there is a problem, they will be mobilized immediately. Generally, only Nepal Police and Election Police will be deployed at the polling station.
