Preparation for demolishing houses around the highway in Hetauda from November 20, 20 heavy equipments are ready
Kathmandu. From tomorrow, 20th of November, houses under the East-West Highway will be demolished in the Hetauda market area. Road Division Office Hetaunda is going to expand the road from Ratomate on Mahendra Highway to Rapti Bridge via Buddhachowk and from Buddhachowk to Samari Bridge on Tribhuvan Rajpath.
The 15-day ultimatum given to remove permanent and temporary houses and structures built within 25-25 yards 975-75 feet from the center line of the road border of the highway expires today.
Guruprasad Adhikari, head of road division office, informed that the demolition of encroached houses and other structures will be started tomorrow from 20th of November. According to the office, 6.3 km road from Ratomate on Mahendra Highway to Rapti Bridge via Buddha Chowk and 3.2 km from Buddha Chowk to Samari Bridge on Tribhuvan Rajpath should be extended. The division is preparing to proceed with road expansion by stopping the operation of vehicles from tomorrow.
The road division has said that 531 houses, towers and other structures should be demolished within 8.5 km from Ratomate to Raptipul via Buddhchowk and from Buddhchowk to Samari bridge. The division chief officer said that 234 houses, towers and structures on the right side of the road and 297 on the left side within 25 and 25 yards from the center point of the road have to be demolished.
