Pollution has increased in Kathmandu
Kathmandu. Air pollution in Kathmandu Valley has started to increase. Air pollution has also started to increase as the weather has become cloudy in the last few days.
Director General of Environment Department, Gyanraj Subedi, said that the weather has become foggy due to lack of rain and wind for a long time, which has helped increase pollution. "It hasn't been raining for a long time, and the wind hasn't been blowing. That's why the weather has been hazy for a few days", he said, "The pollution is a little less this year compared to last year. The pollution will not increase excessively until the forest fires."
According to Air Quality Index 9AQI, the air quality index of Kathmandu valley has reached 186 till noon today. Along with this, Kathmandu has been listed as the fourth most polluted city in the world, said environmentalist Bhushan Tuladhar. Stating that timely preparation is necessary for pollution control, he opined that proper management of garbage from the house, control of fires, smoke testing of vehicles, strict implementation of standards will help in pollution control. According to the AQI criteria, zero to 50 is considered 'good' and 51 to 100 is considered to be in the 'should be aware' category.
