Main News Image

Islamism. Pakistan has started playing the role of a decisive mediator between the US and Iran to defuse the growing military tension and prevent a possible war. As part of this effort, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has reached Saudi Arabia, while Army Chief General Asim Munir has reached Iran's capital, Tehran.

Prime Minister Sharif reached Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. He is scheduled to have a special meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman there.

As Saudi Arabia's role in maintaining peace in the Middle East region is important, the visit is said to be focused on garnering regional support for the second round of talks between the US and Iran. After Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Sharif is also scheduled to visit Qatar and Turkey.
