"Not the constitution, character revision is necessary" : Prof. Dr. Surendra KC

Mediabaaji.com Kathmandu, July 24. Analyst Prof. Dr. Surendra KC has said that "revision of character" is the main need of present Nepal rather than amendment of the constitution. Speaking at an interaction program held at the National Press Club, he questioned the justification of the Finance Minister, raising the issue that the Prime Minister canceled the taxes imposed on the education and health sectors under the pressure of social media. "It is sad that an educated person makes a mistake in tax policy," he said.

Pvt. KC said it would be a serious mistake if the new Dalai Lama was announced in Nepal. Hark Sampang's expression could affect religious tolerance, noting that there was religious sensitivity like Prithvi Narayan Shah's time.

He made it clear that incidents like self-immolation will not solve the problem and expressed the opinion that "today no Nepali sees a future in Nepal". Balen Shah became the most popular because of his individualistic character, claiming that the influence of the federalist and identitarian forces has decreased due to the dislike of the people.

In the regional and international context, he mentioned that the power balance in South Asia is likely to be disturbed. He speculated that the "cockroach rebellion" seen in India could be a maneuver of the powers. He also said that it is yet to be clear whether the removal of Chuche map from the one rupee coin is an illusion or a bias towards India. Pvt. KC mentioned that it would not be wise for Nepal to unnecessarily create tension in its relations with China and said, "The question has arisen whether Nepal is looking for time by teasing China."In the regional and international context, he mentioned that the power balance in South Asia is likely to be disturbed.
