Nepali Amrit Jha who was arrested in Iran is safe

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed that Amrit Jha, a Nepali citizen who was arrested in Iran, is safe. In a press conference held on Friday, the spokesperson of the ministry, Lok Bahadur Chhetri, informed that Jha is currently being held in a prison in Iran and the case is ongoing. According to him, Jha was arrested before the start of tension in the Middle East.

"Decision is yet to be made by the relevant court, we are not in a position to say anything about the punishment now," Chhetri said, adding, "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is trying to get more information." A lawyer has met him and he is safe.' Meanwhile, due to the ongoing conflict between Israel-America and Iran, there has been a delay in bringing back the bodies of 38 Nepali citizens who died in various places in the Middle East, the ministry said.
