Kathmandu. On the main day of Tihar, the second biggest festival of Nepali which is celebrated every year on the day of Kartik Shukla Dwiya, brothers and sisters have taken tika from their sisters. The sixth and last day of the festival, also known as Yamapanchak, is celebrated today by sisters and brothers, wishing their brothers long life, health and prosperity with devotion, faith and loyalty, by wearing Pancharangi or Saptarangi tika according to tradition. Today, Tihar, the second festival of Nepali, has ended with the wearing of Bhaitika.
After sisters vaccinate their brothers, brothers also vaccinate their sisters. Prof. Dr. Devmani Bhattarai, a theologian and a member of the Nepal Panchang Jury Committee, informed that there is a classical belief that by worshiping one's sisters one gets good fortune and prosperity.
Even though there is no obstacle to wear Bhitika all day today, the committee announced that 11:39 am is the best time to find the time. According to the classical belief that vaccination should be administered on the spot by the state administrator, vaccination was administered at 11:39 in the morning.
Today, on the day of Lakshmi Puja, the lamp, Kalash and Ganesha were worshiped in the Ashtdal written on the original plate, Markandeya, Ashwatthama, Bali, Vyasa, Hanuman, Vibhishan, Kripacharya and Parashuram, Chiranjeevi, Chitragupta, Yamaraj, Yamuna and Dharmaraj, Ganapatyadi also worshiped the plant deity and brothers and sisters sprinkled oil stream on each other according to tradition. Garlands of saptarangi or pancharangi tika, makhamli, saipatri or Godavari etc. are worn.
Prof. Dr. Bhattarai, a theologian, informed that although it is being propagated that seven-colored tika should be worn during Tihar, according to the classical belief, five colors of tika should be worn on Tihar, namely red, white, yellow, green and blue. It is a religious and social tradition for sisters to give food such as walnuts, katus, mar masala and selroti to their brothers after applying tika and also for brothers to show their respect by giving clothes and dakshina as symbols of good luck to their sisters.
