Let's invest the Urban Development Fund in areas that give returns: Minister Ghisingh
Kathmandu. Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising has said that the Urban Development Fund will be made effective by expanding its jurisdiction. Taking information about the functioning of the fund today, he said that it is necessary to effectively advance the fund by expanding investment in the areas where returns are obtained. Minister Ghising suggested to the concerned parties to invest in the field of 'e-mobility' such as electric vehicles and charging stations.
'Energy, water resources and irrigation, physical infrastructure and transportation and investment in partnership with the municipality can be used from this fund to invest in projects such as waste management and energy production. Let's study its potential. Now the government is ready to make the necessary legal arrangements to further expand the investment jurisdiction, he said.
Minister Ghising believed that the Green Climate Fund is currently in the process of being recognized and after the recognition, the fund will be provided with large financial support for investment in green energy related projects. Vinod Prakash Pandit, executive director of the fund, informed that the financial resources of the fund are Rs.7 billion equity, Rs.5.19 billion through the Asian Development Bank, Rs.12 billion from the World Bank and Rs.2 billion as loans from the Government of Nepal. He said that the fund has disbursed Rs 16 billion loans.
