Kathmandu. The great cultural festival 'Ubhauli' of the Kirat Rai community who worships nature and ancestors is being celebrated with enthusiasm across the country today. Celebrated every year on the full moon day of Baisakh, the Kirat community takes this festival as a special opportunity to start new farming and worship nature.
According to the Kirati belief, it is called 'Ubhauli' because it is the time when birds and fish migrate to the lake after winter ends and summer begins. This festival is also important as an indicator of the time when people, animals, birds and animals migrate from Bensi to the lake with the rise of summer. The meaning of 'umbho' is also associated with the wish for progress, progress and good farming.
On this day, the people of the Kirat Rai community gather at the 'Bhumesthan' or 'Sakela Than' in the village and worship. Before planting the crops, one prays to Mother Nature for a good harvest and not to harm the crops with the caterpillars.
