Kathmandu Metropolitan City said: The ban on construction on the left and right sides of the river has been lifted
Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has removed the previous ban on construction permits on the left and right sides of the river within the metropolitan area. The Metropolitan Corporation issued a notice today saying that according to the order of the Supreme Court, permission has been given to construct buildings on the left and right sides of the river. On January 4, 2082, the Supreme Court overturned the decision that structures could not be built up to 20 meters from the banks of the river in Kathmandu.
On Sunday, the full bench of Supreme Court Justices Sunil Kumar Pokharel, Balkrishna Dhakal and Nripadhwaj Niraula overturned the previous joint bench decision. In the decision of the full bench, it is said, "Since the said decision does not seem to be in accordance with law and justice, to that extent the decision of the joint bench dated 20809,03 will be overturned."
The Metropolitan Municipality issued a notification today and stated that permission has been granted to construct buildings on the right (left) side of the river as per the order of the Supreme Court. Based on the order of the Supreme Court, as long as there is no hindrance to work under the standards determined by the Council of Ministers dated November 1, 2065, it is hereby informed that the permission to construct a building on the private land of any person will not be blocked and the structure under construction will not be blocked, the notification issued by the Metropolitan Municipality said.
