Joshi entered the Guinness Book of Records by running on Daura Surwal

Kathmandu. Bal Joshi, an American runner of Nepali origin, has written his name in the Guinness book after completing the 'World Marathon Challenge' in Daura Surwal. Joshi has written his name in the Guinness book by running in Daura Suruwal in seven marathons in seven continents, seven consecutive days.

At the closing ceremony of the 'World Marathon Challenge' held in Miami, US, on Friday, the representative of Guinness Book, Michael Imprick, presented a certificate to Joshi. The marathon, which started from Antarctica, passed through Cape Town in Africa, Perth in Australia, Dubai in Asia, Madrid in Spain, Brazil and ended in Miami in America on the seventh day.

The 'World Marathon Challenge', which is considered very challenging, has been running since 2015. Since seven marathons will be held in seven continents for seven consecutive days, this competition is called '777 Marathon'. 56 runners from 32 countries participated in the marathon including Joshi.

Joshi said hat he participated in the marathon in Daura Suruwal to promote Nepali heritage and culture worldwide and to respect the land and heritage of his birth. In all the seven marathons, he wore different tourniquets. All tours were prepared by Vishwa Gautam from Kathmandu.

Born in Surkhet, 41-year-old Joshi has been in America for two decades. Joshi lives in Grapevine City, Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Texas and is a banker by profession.
