Influence of Westerlies and Arabian Sea Low Pressure Systems: Rain and Snowfall Signals

Kathmandu. According to the Weather Forecast Division, the combined effect of the activity of western winds and the low pressure system formed in the Arabian Sea has been observed in the country. Due to the effect of this system, rains are falling in some places while normal monsoon is maintained across the country.

According to the division, there is now sporadic rain in some parts of Gandaki and Bagmati provinces. In the afternoon, the sky will be generally cloudy in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces as well as the rest of the hilly areas, while it is expected to remain partly cloudy in most parts of Terai.

During this period, there is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall in some places of Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali regions. In addition, the department has said that similar weather may be seen in some parts of the hilly and mountainous areas of the rest of the province. It has been warned that there is a possibility of snowfall with heavy rain, especially in one (two) places in the high hills and Himalayan regions of Gandaki province.

Cloudy influence will continue over the central and western parts of the country tonight. According to the department, moderate rain and snowfall will continue in the hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali regions.

Due to the forecast of heavy snowfall in the high mountain areas of Gandaki province, the division has warned that it will affect the people's life, mountain climbing, agriculture and tourism activities there and has requested to take necessary precautions.
